Todo el jazz y sus tendencias.

Pianist Alan Pasqua has dedicated his second Postcards CD to the
incredibly rich tradition of jazz. On Dedications, his compositions cover
the whole stylistic spectrum from swing and bebop through today’s
polytonality and modality, and are heard in trio, quartet, and quintet
settings. Building from a core trio featuring Dave Holland and Paul Motian
who have rarely recorded together) on four tunes, Pasqua adds Michael
Brecker on seldom-heard soprano saxophone on one tune, and then
creates two different quintets

This is one of the best piano jazz trio CD I have heard for taste comparison
I treasure all of Bill Evans - of course, as well as most, not all, Keith Jarrett
and some modern trios such as EST, Vassilis Tsabropoulos Achirana is still
the best ever piano trio CD John Taylor (all of his ECM recordings with Peter
Erskine are golden) and the underrated and rarely heard Richard Bierach.

Miroslav Vitous - bass
John Surman - soprano and baritone saxophones
John Taylor - piano
Jon Christensen - drums

After recording a ton of music in 1959, the Oscar Peterson Trio only made
one studio album in 1960 (The Music from Fiorello) and was not documented
again until July 28, 1961. This 1997 CD has ten selections recorded for the
Canadian Broadcasting Corporation but not released commercially until decades
later. Pianist Peterson, bassist Ray Brown and drummer Ed Thigpen, as usual,
swing hard, with O.P. being the dominant force. Among the highlights of the
predictably excellent program are Peterson’s “Blues for Big Scotia,” “My Heart
Stood Still,” “How About You,” “Cookin’ at the Continental” and “Dancing on the
Ceiling.” This tight trio was nothing if not consistent!

This CD by Victor Feldman’s Generation Band was released in 1985 On
TBA Records, players are Victor Feldman on keyboards, Tom Scott on
lyricon and sax, Max Bennett and Abraham Laboriel on bass, Dean Parks
on guitar, Joseph Conlan on synths and linn drums and Tevor Feldman
on drums. Production by Josh Feldman, engineering and mixing by Trevor
Feldman. Recorded in daddy’s studio in Woodland Hills, CA.

She demonstrates her lilting, airy, almost transparent voice on the
opener, “Women Of Santiago,” then proceeds with a dreamy and fun
interpretation of Paul Simon’s “Have A Good Time.” Her exhilarating
choruses on “South,” written by her impressive pianist Jacob Karlzon
soar above her band mates. Prince’s “Te Amo Corazon” has a sly bossa
feel, while Peter Gabriel’s “Kiss That Frog” kicks it with a funky, gospel
inflected piano groove, ending with church recalling tambourine bust-out
Absentee, another Karlzon gem, is a floating, angelic, yearning ballad.

Recorded before a live audience in an elegant, Old Black Forest villa,
the albums had a looser, more intimate feel than the commercially
minded projects he cut with American producer Norman Granz. This
album consists of previously unreleased performances from ‘65 to ‘67
On the later sessions, bassist Ray Brown and drummer Ed Thigpen are
replaced by Sam Jones and Bobby Durham, respectively. Peterson reins
supreme on the keys, leavening his baroque flourishes, which eventually
came to characterize his playing, with convivial good vibes.

This series of hybrid SACD reissues pianist Oscar Peterson’s
intimate works for the MPS label in the late 1960’s.Recorded
by Hans George Brunner-Schwer at his private home, many
consider this some of Peterson’s finest sides. This trio date
features Sam Jones on bass and Bob Durham on drums.

Girl Talk is probably the best album by Oscar Peterson However
be warned fans–you will have a hard time accepting this is Oscar
Peterson. From the 4 minute introduction of I’m In The Mood For
Love to the rhapsodic introduction to Medley: I Concentrate On
You/Mood River; this is not Oscar as usual. This is why Oscar is
considered a genius-YOU AIN’T HEARD OSCAR YET!

One of the brightest tenor players on the jazz scene today, Joe Lovano
has been recording as a band leader since 1990. While Lovano has played
in a variety of interesting contexts since signing to the Blue Note label Trio
Fascination finds the saxophonist in superb company with bassist Dave
Holland and drummer Elvin Jones. Performing original material except for
the standard Ghost of a Chance, the talented threesome stretches out
musically and engages in some particularly impassioned playing.

There is very little known about this rare issue from Verve
Holland. It is known that this was part of five-week stay in
Vancouver where Peterson’s trio recorded these tracks
